KOKO HOTEL Residence Asakusa Tawaramachi

The room was spacious for our family of five, with a big dining table and a washing machine. We loved it, and liked the calmer feel of the neighborhood since it wasn’t crowded or busy. Convenience stores are within walking distance. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were friendly and polite. They’d already put my stroller and luggage in the room, which I’d left there a week earlier. I’d definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed five nights with our two kids. The room was very spacious, with the parents and children in separate rooms, and had everything we needed. The washer with a drying function was really useful. The area was excellent: very quiet, with a train station and lots of bus stops nearby, plus plenty of restaurants just a short walk away. The staff were kind and even brought some of our luggage directly. The shower was our only complaint. The water flow was so weak that showering was difficult each day. We showed a staff member, who agreed there was a problem and checked another room to confirm it seemed limited to ours. But we weren’t offered a solution. The manager wasn’t at the hotel, and told the staff, without seeing it himself, “this is how it always was.” When I asked them to call a plumber or handyman, they refused. The manager didn’t follow up or check on the complaint. The hotel may be excellent if there’s no issue with your room. If something goes wrong, don’t count on getting an answer or solution. Beware!

There was plenty of space for my wife, me, and our two children. The room was nice and spacious, and lots of shops and restaurants were within walking distance. This was our second trip to Tokyo, and this hotel was a lot better than the one we stayed in last time. We’ll definitely stay here again!

After two weeks of cramped rooms, at least by Western standards, we spent a little extra and got the biggest room of our Japan trip. It came with its own washer and dryer, a kitchenette, and a separate tatami room with traditional bedding if you wanted to use it. We slept in the comfortable Western style bed instead. Highly recommend!
