Lotte City Hotel Kinshicho

We ended up leaving early for another hotel after an uncomfortable stay. The first room had a foul smell throughout, like someone had been there and it hadn't been cleaned properly. It was old, with stains on the walls, carpet, and couch. The bathroom was filthy too, with hair in the drain, mold in parts of the shower, and water leaking from under the sink. They moved us to another room, but the smell and cleanliness problems were still there. This was the worst hotel we stayed at on our trip to Japan.

Tokyo Sky Tree looks like it's right outside your window, which makes sense if seeing it is why you chose this hotel in Kinshicho. It's huge, though, so even when it looks close, you can walk and walk without feeling any nearer. The walk takes 37 minutes. There are plenty of 7 Elevens along the way, so you can grab one of those egg sandwiches everyone talks about and recharge. This is an older hotel, and I imagine the owner must have been excited enough to throw a party when they heard Sky Tree was going up down the street. Kinshicho has Sky Tree, and that's about it.

The staff were great, and the hotel was really nice and clean. It's well placed for food, shopping, and the train station, with a 7-11 on the first floor too. If you can, book a Premium room on the 19th floor facing the Sky Tree. You also get free lounge access with wine, beer, and snacks. Haha.

The rooms are fine, with a nice desk and plenty of space, but the service was really disappointing. Checkout is at 11am, and they wouldn't keep my luggage for three hours unless I paid 3000 yen. Staying three extra hours, until 2pm at most, costs 6000 yen. Customer service was terrible.
