Mercure Tokyo Hibiya

The room was surprisingly quiet despite being close to the trains, and the staff were polite and helpful. Still, it was very small and dark. This was the first of three hotels we stayed at on our recent Japan trip, and it was okay in that context, but compared with similar hotels elsewhere, I’d give it no more than a 7. Being near a train station was convenient, especially for business, but I wouldn’t choose this location for a holiday. Breakfast had a limited selection, and ordering a main from the menu instead of getting it from the buffet slowed things to a crawl. The breakfast area was cramped too, with barely enough room to reach the buffet. There was only one English-language TV channel. We didn’t come to Tokyo to watch TV, but some information or entertainment would have been useful. At that price and in that location, I probably wouldn’t return.

The lounge was beautifully laid out, and the hotel’s decor looked great. I was initially concerned that breakfast wasn’t served in the lounge, but the restaurant had a good offering and plenty of seating, so it made no difference in the end. The rooms were a good size for Tokyo, the train connections were excellent, and the neighborhood was lively. The staff were fantastic. Great job, Accor.

We really enjoyed being here. The rooms were a good size and very clean, and the bathrooms were small, just as we expected. We used the luggage forwarding service too, and the Mercure staff were so friendly and helpful getting it sorted. They had Netflix and other streaming options, which we loved.

The room was clean and had what we needed, and the theater theme gives the hotel its own style. The M Lounge was a quiet, pleasant place to have a drink, listen to music, or read. Breakfast offered a good mix of local and international food. It wasn’t an extensive spread, but there was plenty for a good meal. We were only at Mercure Tokyo Hibiya for a short time, but the stay was memorable because of the people and the location. Jitendar and Binaya welcomed us so warmly, and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Ginza, Hibiya, and the Imperial Palace are all about a 15-30 minute walk away. Nearby train stations also made it easy to get further across the city. Thanks again, and we hope to see you all again.
