Minn Asakusa Kappabashi

The staff handled the problems in our first room with a polite, responsive, professional attitude, and made a real effort to accommodate us. Since the issues continued, they upgraded us to a larger room, which helped us feel more comfortable. We appreciated their efforts and didn't raise another complaint about the second room's cleanliness, even though it was only so-so and below what we'd expected. It wasn't bad enough to ruin the stay, but we noticed it. I do feel a little bad posting this without giving the hotel a chance to fix the cleanliness, but it is what it is. Minn Kappabashi Asakusa offers good value and a spacious, family-friendly modern setup, especially compared with typical Tokyo hotels. The location is excellent, quiet and convenient for getting to Asakusa, Kappabashi Street, and nearby transport. Our stay was pleasant overall. We’d consider returning, especially with family or for a longer visit, and hope room upkeep becomes more consistent.

The dining table came in handy for meals and putting things down, even though we left the bunk beds up. The place was clean and well organised, with a good-sized kitchen and bathroom. The washing machine worked well, but English instructions would have been useful. It was convenient for both Ueno and Asakusa, and there’s a 7-11 and Life supermarket nearby.

For an apartment, it was a pretty good stay, and I’d recommend the hotel if they can sort out the luggage storage and cleaning. The sink and bathroom had some stains. The main issue was the self-service cloakroom. There are only eight lockers for the whole building, while rooms can sleep up to five people. If more than two rooms have large bags, there’s no room for anyone else’s luggage before or after checkout. During my five-day stay, the same bags seemed to occupy one locker the whole time, probably for a side trip, so the system wasn’t reliable for other guests.

The room size works well for families with small children. There’s no housekeeping for stays under seven nights, and the nearest metro or train is a good 10-15 minutes away on foot.
