Wonderful.
Clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need for a Tokyo visit. With the subway and buses nearby, it’s easy to get around, and the value for money is excellent.
A cheap Airbnb with a supermarket downstairs, and contactless check-in and check-out.
I was surprised to find that the place had closed as a ramen shop and become a lodging facility. On July 9, 2023, while waiting for the Kita Megurin (Negishi route) bus at the Yoshiwara Daimon bus stop, I spotted “Daikichi,” a buy-back specialty store on the first floor of the Musashi Hotel. Ikko appears in its TV commercials. Long before the COVID-19 pandemic, I’d gone to Ramen Musashi to try its highly recommended Musashi ramen. It was soy sauce-flavored, topped with stir-fried vegetables, pork, pickled mustard greens, green peppers, onions, and bamboo shoots, all sautéed in scallion oil. I’d heard the shop had been a fruit shop for many years, and that the owner’s son trained there before turning it into a ramen shop. I’ve missed that distinctive Tokyo ramen taste. On my last night, nobody else was there, so I finally got to talk with the owner. It turned out he’d been my junior in high school. He also knew that the birthplace of tsukemen ramen was nearby.
I wasn’t sure a hotel could be in a place like this, but sure enough, there it was!
