My partner and I stayed for a little over a week. The hotel is old-fashioned and small, tucked into a restaurant street, but it did the job as a bed and bathroom since we were out most of the time. Otsuka Station itself is small, so it's easy to find your way around, and Ikebukuro is a nice 15-minute walk away. For the affordable price, the location is excellent: the station, groceries, lots of ethnic food, and several dollar stores are all within five minutes.

I used the hotel for day use. For the price and location, it's good value, with a decent room size, cleanliness, service, and hospitality. Items that might seem to be missing at first, like an electric kettle or glasses, can be borrowed for free at the front desk. The dimmable LED lights are handy because you can adjust the color for computer work, reading, or relaxing, and unlimited movie viewing is available too. One thing to watch for: depending on how much you pay, cashless payment may not be accepted, so you might have to pay cash. This isn't mentioned on the website or elsewhere, so those who don't carry cash should be careful. I wonder if that goes against the card company's terms, but there's nothing consumers can do about it.
I was travelling alone as a woman and stayed for two nights and three days. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, and I was glad I chose it. It was quiet, and it felt closer to the station than the listed distance. The inside and details feel more like a business hotel, not really a love hotel despite the area. FamilyMart is right across the street, and there's a vending machine on the first floor. I appreciated being able to choose my shampoo, and the front desk staff were friendly. It's been a long time since a hotel made me want to come back. I use business hotels for work, and I'd recommend this one too. The toilet and bathroom are separate, which is a plus, and the noon or 2 p.m. checkout is great if you have afternoon work. I checked out at noon. If you're okay with the red-light district location, I recommend it, and I'll stay again. There was bottled water in the room on the first day. It's certainly an older hotel, but it's kept clean, and I was touched by the owner's commitment to that. The wallpaper was cute too. 😂
I needed a place in Tokyo to run a long online workshop, and this hotel worked well as a daytime workspace. It cost 4,100 yen for eight hours. The Wi-Fi handled heavy data traffic, so I could speak freely during the workshop, and it cost the same as a private room at an internet cafe. Since the COVID-19 pandemic ended, day-use hotel plans have disappeared completely, so I'm grateful this option was available. I wouldn't want to stay here overnight, though.
