Ryokan Tsutaya

The garden is on the small side, but lovely to sit and look at, and the place itself was clean, quiet, and beautiful. Staff were wonderfully kind and did a lot to make visitors comfortable. There's a private family bath, an Onsen, open day and night except during maintenance. I'd stay here again next time I'm in Tokyo.

The hostess is charming, fluent in English, and ready to help with whatever you need. The rooms are spacious and the bed linens delicate. This old, traditional-style ryokan is beautifully cared for, with so many details to admire: carved wood, doorknobs, window ornaments, decorated thin interior glass, wooden floors, and carefully laid stone floors. We took plenty of photos. It really gives you that Japanese ryokan feeling.

The garden is small but lovely, and I really enjoyed the bath. The people running the place were so friendly. Our flight was delayed, so we arrived after hours, but there was a note waiting for us on the door and a pot of hot water for tea in our room.

After lots of walking, the bath was a nice way to relax. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I was very happy staying in this traditional Japanese house ryokan. It was a comfortable place to stay.
