Shinagawa Prince Hotel

The hallway and rooms were very clean, and the staff were helpful, even lending us an umbrella when it rained. There’s a 7-11 on the hotel’s second floor, which made it easy to pick up snacks or an early breakfast. The hotel also has an aquarium with great dolphin performance shows. It’s at a major subway station, and plenty of attractions are within 20 min by subway or taxi. Such a nice and convenient place. We’ll be back, and we were very happy with our stay. Thanks.

The rooms and bathrooms were too small, though the shower had amazing water pressure. I wish there had been an English-speaking person at the front desk. I had to use the translate feature on my phone to communicate. The location is great, right by Shinagawa Train station for local and Shinkensen trains. There are good food options, especially the 7 Eleven downstairs, which is so convenient. Make sure to get a room in Main tower rather than Annex tower. An amazing experience overall.

Our stay here was a great experience, and the staff were always happy to help with concerns. The bathroom was spacious, but it had a step up and a taller bathtub, which could make getting in and out difficult for older adults. We stayed on the 11th floor of the Main Tower. The room was clean and tidy, with a small refrigerator, safe, TV, double beds, a chair, and a desk. Rooms are relatively small compared with those in other parts of the world.

The location is hard to beat, directly across from Shinagawa Station, one of Tokyo’s main transport hubs. We found the hotel very practical, with a food court, a handy 7-Eleven, several good ground-floor shops, and Pivot, a restaurant we loved. The Main Tower also has a Yamato Transport takkyubin counter on the 2nd floor, which made forwarding bags to our next hotel easy. We’d had to look for Yamato offices near other hotels. There’s complimentary luggage storage as well. We left some of our bags there while visiting other cities, which made travel logistics much easier and saved us quite a bit of money. The coin laundry on the Main Tower’s 9th floor was useful on a longer trip. It has plenty of washing and drying machines, a detergent vending machine, and a coin exchange machine, even though we’d been told there wasn’t one. Washing takes 35 minutes and costs 300 yen. Drying is 20 minutes for 200 yen, and detergent is 100 yen per packet. The machines were busy at times, but we could use them without much trouble. The hotel is huge, but check-in was smooth. The receptionist was extremely friendly, which may have helped since I spoke Japanese. We were three people and stayed in a corner room on the 25th floor. The large elevators use the room key card, which automatically activates your floor. We didn’t visit the aquarium or other attractions in the complex, so I can only speak to what we experienced. The room was the weak point. The furniture felt dated and could use renovation. With three people and nine suitcases, the space was tight. The compact Japanese-style bathroom has the bathtub and shower, toilet, and sink all together. Of the hotels we stayed at on the trip, this one felt the most dated and showed some wear, including a worn faucet, an older flush system, a less modern toilet seat, and an outdated bedside light control panel. I know Tokyo rooms tend to be small, but for a large, well-known hotel, I expected something more modern.
