We stayed about eight nights for our wedding anniversary. The hotel is next to a small freeway, but it was peaceful and we didn’t hear any traffic. The business district location also meant quiet evenings, though food options nearby were limited. The staff were the best part. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. Since we were there for a while, we used a laundry service that picked up and returned our clothes, ordered items from Amazon, and had other packages delivered. The staff even brought them to our room. Mr Kato took a package we needed to mail and sent it for us. The doorman remembered us and greeted us when we came and went. The beds seemed to be traditional Japanese style, very firm, like tatami. My wife was fine with them, but I wasn’t used to it. Google lists the hotel as four stars, but the service felt like five-star level to us, with turndown, drink refills, and complimentary mini-fridge drinks restocked daily. We had a great stay and would return.

We spent our last three nights of an 11-day Japan trip at The Kitano Hotel Tokyo, and the staff made it hard to leave. The concierge was a highlight, though I’m disappointed I can’t remember his name. He greeted us warmly whenever we came and went, helped with bags, waited with our Ubers until they arrived, and suggested nearby sights and restaurants. His friendliness was contagious and his service was outstanding. At check-in, Mr. Aiman helped with our bags and showed us the room amenities. We’d booked a superior twin room, but the highway view right outside the window blocked natural light. When I asked about a different view, Mr. K. Fujimoto explained the available rooms required an upgrade because none remained in our original room type. He showed us the room first and offered a discounted upgrade rate, so we moved to a junior twin suite. It was spacious and lovely, with large windows, a separate vanity bathroom, sitting and kitchen areas, and a mini fridge with complimentary soft drinks. Staff knocked each evening to restock it if needed. We chose daily room cleaning, which included bathroom service, fresh towels, and more of the shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion we liked. The room was much more spacious than other Tokyo hotels we’d stayed in. The beds were very firm, like traditional Japanese tatami, but oddly my friend and I slept better than on the rest of our trip, and they helped with the back and body pain we’d picked up. The TVs weren’t smart TVs and the channels were all in Japanese, but we only watched at the end of the day. We were sad to leave the staff and plan to return whenever we’re in Tokyo. I can’t recommend it enough.

The staff made me feel at home throughout my eight-day stay. Everyone was warm and welcoming, the concierge took a real interest in helping us, and the front desk gave us directions for both subway trips and walking. Thanks to the whole Kitano team for making the visit so comfortable and memorable. The room had lots of space and thoughtful amenities, including complimentary tea, coffee, water, toiletries, and more. The bathroom had a large tub and the best shower I’ve used. There’s an elegant breakfast room serving delicious coffee and lattes, with a choice of Japanese or continental breakfast. The rooftop bar was beautiful, with inventive cocktails. In Chiyoda city, the hotel is just steps from the Subway, near the Imperial Gardens, and within walking distance of many great restaurants. One of the best hotels I’ve visited. I’d return in a minute!

Seven nights still didn’t feel like enough, and I’d happily come back. The hotel had all the amenities we needed, with thoughtful little extras that I especially appreciated as someone who loves beauty products, like the foot mask. Breakfast was lovely and presented beautifully. The staff were polite, kind, and helpful throughout. When we asked for a spare plug or charger, they had one ready for us at check-in. They went above and beyond to make my husband and me feel welcome.

A calm, polished hideaway in Nagatacho, with Japanese hospitality and a New York spirit. The Kitano Hotel Tokyo offers quiet surroundings, spacious rooms, and attentive service in Tokyo’s political center. It suits adults looking to avoid the crowds in Shinjuku or Shibuya. The hotel is elegant, so smart casual clothing fits the atmosphere. Bring walking shoes for a stroll or morning jog near the Imperial Palace. The palace is about a 10-minute walk, Hie Shrine is around five minutes away and known for its Torii Gate tunnel and peaceful feel, and Akasaka, with its upscale restaurants and bars, is about a 10-minute walk. There’s a traditional tea room on the second floor worth checking out, and the rooftop or “Tea Lounge” has tranquil city views. Rooms run approximately ¥60,000-¥100,000+ per night.
