The Tourist Hotel & Cafe Akihabara

We'd already checked out of another hotel to come back here on our second Tokyo trip. Yesterday afternoon, a lovely man and two women on the tourist hotel staff helped us track down an important document and saved our whole trip. They're amazing, so helpful and friendly, and we really appreciate how kind they were and how far they went to help. Thank you again!

I've stayed here twice, and most of the staff have been friendly, attentive, patient, and quick to help. The coffee and seating on the main floor are a real highlight, and there's a laundry facility as well as luggage storage. The location is great without being too busy. The beds are firmer than American-style ones, but comfortable if you don't need a quicksand-soft mattress.

The room's modern Japanese tatami-inspired look was stylish and thoughtfully put together, and the beds were comfortable. Space is the main drawback: once you open your luggage, it gets hard to move around. It should be fine if you pack light, but multiple or large suitcases would be a challenge. The location is very convenient, about an eight-minute walk from central Akihabara and close to shops, food, and train stations, while still fairly quiet. Staff were excellent, helpful, polite, and professional, with solid Japanese hospitality. Location, service, and design are the strong points. With limited room space, it's best for shorter stays or for travelers who care more about location and style than room size.

Our family of three would happily stay again, and we've already recommended the place to a friend. The street was quiet, the staff friendly, and the room very clean. A convenience store is just across the road, and it was easy to walk 12 minutes to a subway station. We could even see the very top of Tokyo Tower from the window. The room felt small by North American standards, though that didn't bother us since we weren't in it much. The only tiny complaint was that the mattresses weren't very comfortable.
