Toden Hotel

I could live here! The room was gorgeous, with a proper tea room, warmed tatami mats, and rice paper walls. The kitchen had everything, plus a washer/dryer and rice cooker. It's a few moments' walk from the station, with trains to all the Tokyo hot spots. The owner also runs a cafe on 1F with excellent food. We faced the covered mall street, so there was some noise, but it was fun watching people go by. Can't recommend it enough, all stars!

Toden (Tram) took me in when I urgently needed somewhere staffed for two nights. I'd had a major problem with accommodation I'd booked elsewhere and was literally walking the streets with Google Maps, looking for a place with availability. The staff couldn't have been more understanding. The hotel is tucked off the main street in a lovely part of Tokyo with a real neighbourhood feel. It's close to food outlets and 7 Elevens, a 24/7 laundry just around the corner, and the train station is a five-minute walk or less. My room was clean and relaxed, with a comfy bed, USB charging ports beside it, and great amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful. I also enjoyed a drink and meal downstairs; the tram and train theme in the bar area adds charm. It's economically priced, and hard to beat for this part of Tokyo.

The owner couple were warm and considerate, the kind of people you don't often encounter at big hotels. We checked out late, but they didn't charge us.

The room was lovely, in a peaceful, old-world area that felt like a welcome break from the busy city. It was a little far out, though, so getting places took some time. I found the owner hard to reach, but the gentleman in the restaurant downstairs was incredibly helpful.
