Tokyo Hikari Guesthouse - Hostel

I spent about two weeks at Tokyo Hikari Guesthouse during my month-and-a-half in Japan, and it made that time more special. Isa runs it with his family, who live in the building, and you can feel how much care they put into it. That kind of heart and soul feels rare these days, and it matters to me as a traveler. The place was immaculate. I saw Isa cleaning every day and carefully tending to every corner. Cleanliness is very important to me, and this went beyond what I expected. I also appreciated the thought behind the natural laundry detergent and shampoos. Those details say something about Isa’s values: he cares about nature, the neighborhood and the local community, and he’s actively involved there. Isa shares a list of local recommendations, and the many places I visited from it were all incredible. It’s clear he puts thought into creating a meaningful stay, not just running a guesthouse. I wholeheartedly recommend Tokyo Hikari Guesthouse for its care, thoughtfulness and genuine kindness.

Isa-san and Yumiko-san were so kind and caring, and made me feel at home. The guesthouse was clean and cozy, with a really nice feel, and the other guests were friendly and respectful. It’s in a quiet area but still close to lots of good places, so getting around was convenient. I had a wonderful stay at Tokyo Hikari Guesthouse and would love to come back next time I’m in Tokyo.

Isa welcomed me like part of his home and family, and was a gracious host. This is simply a perfect place to stay, and the best guest house I’ve ever experienced.

The kitchen and living space had a sweet, social feel, and it was handy having free tea, coffee, and use of the washing machine. Shops, restaurants, and train stations are close by, too. The owners were genuinely friendly and thoughtful about the little details. I stayed six nights and wished I could have stayed longer. It felt like home, with super clean rooms and really comfortable beds. One of the best hostels I've stayed in. I'd definitely come back if I'm in Japan again :)
