Tokyo Ueno Touganeya Hotel

The location worked well for transit and sightseeing, with Ueno Station nearby and museums worth visiting in the area. The neighborhood was quiet, with plenty of convenience stores and restaurants. There are quite a few steps between the station and hotel, so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues or heavy bags. I stayed one night in a single room. It was small but had what I needed, including slippers, nightwear, and a hairdryer. There were extra free amenities at the desk, though I didn’t use them. My small bag fit fine, but a large suitcase might be a squeeze. The smart TV let me watch YouTube, and I appreciated having two pillows, one firm and one soft. The bed was comfortable, and I slept well. Check-in was easy despite my limited Japanese. The man with glasses at reception, whose name I didn’t catch, was prompt and polite. I enjoyed the stay and would come back if I wanted to be near Ueno.

The hotel was quick to respond over Booking.com chat and helped me work out how to arrange luggage delivery from Osaka to Ueno. It was my first time using the service in Japan, and I was relieved and delighted when all my bags arrived safely.

The receptionists were so kind and did everything they could to meet our needs. They also let us leave our luggage between separate stays and send packages to the hotel, which meant we could travel around Japan with only our carry-ons. We had a great experience and would highly recommend it. The location is great too, just a couple of blocks from Ueno Station.

The property was impeccably clean, and the rates were very reasonable. The neighborhood has just about everything Tokyo offers, and Skytree makes an interesting one-hour walk. Ueno Station and the park are both a short, direct walk away. The staff were gracious and spoke enough English to help. They let me store my luggage before and after my stay, too. What nice gentlemen. I was very impressed.
