Tsubame's Guesthouse

This is a clean, cozy guesthouse and good value. The room has just a bed and a small table and chair, with no TV. The toilet and bathroom are shared. It's about a 10-minute walk from the train station, or 15 minutes with heavy luggage. The guesthouse sits among residential four-storey apartment blocks. Restaurants, shops, and a 24-hour convenience store are on the main road, about five minutes away on foot. During my four days there it was generally quiet. Most guests went out after 11am and came back after 8pm, so there weren't noisy guests.

I got a very good deal for my seven-night stay. The facilities were nice and clean, and the staff spoke English. It's close to a JR/Subway station, within walking distance of Akihabara, and convenient for getting to and from both airports.

The receptionists were awesome, and we could communicate with them just fine. Our room was clean and tidy, with curtains around the bed for privacy. If you're traveling light, this place should work well. We stayed for nine days and found the main tourist spots easy to reach. Akihabara was only about a 15-minute walk away, following the train bridge. Asakusa wasn't far either, and Tokyo Skytree was beside Asakusa. Sumida city was just a 20-minute walk, with such rich history. 6/5!

A cheap place to stay in Tokyo, about 20 minutes on foot from akihabara station. You can also take the train just one stop from akiha, then walk three minutes. After a day exploring akiha, it's a good spot to come back to. The Sumida River looks beautiful at night, and it's only around 200-300m from the guest house.
