Ueno Urban Hotel Annex

It’s easy to rest here after a long day out because the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The hotel is also close to plenty of places to eat and shop: Ameya-Yokocho is within walking distance, and two nearby kombini are handy. Ueno Station is very close, with direct JR Line access through the Iriya entrance. The Narita Airport line is about a 10-minute walk away, which makes the location especially convenient.

The room was comfortable and a good size for one or two people, and Ueno Station is only a short walk away. I was especially impressed by the service. The front desk staff were kind and helpful, and their email replies were clear and professional. Everyone I met was pleasant, particularly the morning shift. I checked in early around noon, and the staff member helping me was attentive and very polite. I’d definitely book here again on my next Tokyo trip. Highly recommended.

Ueno is an excellent location, though I found nearby restaurants less welcoming to solo diners, especially at peak times. I booked a very small room, and it was functional, but the narrow corridor made it impossible to open my large suitcase. Packing and unpacking were a challenge.

The room was clean, and there’s a microwave and lots of supplies on the first floor. It’s walkable to JR Ueno Station, with escalators along the route from the hotel. The shower room had a strong humid smell, so staff came to check it patiently and suggested using the spray. At midnight, cars were sometimes loud enough to affect my sleep 🥲
