The location was perfect for a solo traveller or a family, with convenient airport access and sights nearby. The hotel itself is okay. There are some extras on the top floor, and the washing machine may have been the best part. The rooms are just for sleeping, so don’t expect more. A group of four can get a room with its own bathroom. The shared toilet outside isn’t great with small kids, and you can’t know who’s sleeping in the other rooms. Somehow the outside toilets also cause a stench, which makes you appreciate going out for some fresh air. Luckily, the rooms themselves don’t absorb the smell.

The twin capsule room worked really well for my friend and me, and it was comfortable and clean. We also liked how much there was to see and eat nearby, with the stations within walking distance.

The late night receptionist was kind and understanding, and did what he could to help with our luggage. The room was extremely small, and the bathrooms were shared. The sink area in the hall smelled bad all the time, worse on some days. The air conditioning didn't work, only the heater did, so it got really stuffy at night.

The common space on level 9 had a great view, and the hotel supplied everything we needed. Son and Yuta were friendly and helped with all our questions and reservations.

We liked having laundry and a small kitchen, and the facilities were clean and looked after. We really enjoyed staying at Hotel Residence Asakusa and would choose it again next time we're in Tokyo.
