The tatami sleeping area was wonderfully warm and comfortable, and the bathrooms and toilets were simple and modern. It’s cozy Japanese-style housing, with stations and good restaurants within a kilometer. Good pricing and a homey, traditional feel, especially for families. I’d recommend it.

Staying in a Japanese house was a great experience. The room had five mattresses and two heaters, and there were convenient bathrooms and toilets on every floor. There are lots of convenience stores nearby, and the location is handy for Nippori, about 1 km away, and Uguisudani, around 500 m away. The only small downside was that the first floor felt a bit cold because the room opens directly onto the street.

The location worked well for getting around. Uguisudani Station is a ten-minute walk and Nippori Station is twenty minutes away. There’s a convenience store and a Life Supermarket right outside, so buying groceries was easy. It’s a two-story Japanese-style home with two bathrooms and showers, one on each floor, which was handy for a group. The washing machine also works as a dryer. There’s one air conditioner downstairs and two in the upstairs bedroom, and they kept the room cool during the hot summer. The place is down a narrow alley and doesn’t have much soundproofing. They don’t provide towel refills or cleaning. A few days before arrival, we got a check-in link by email; the process was automated, and the door code came at check-in. The button to open the door from inside is on the wall to its right, so keep an eye out for it.

The price felt high, and despite running the heater continuously for three days, the room never got above 20 degrees. I picked it for the ryokan feel, but was surprised the windows were frosted glass. Soundproofing was basically nonexistent when people got loud, and it was incredibly hard to find your way around since it’s in a residential area.
