I should have taken the reviews more seriously. We only needed one night near Shinjuku station, so we picked this place. The photos and listing seem fake. Google still shows a room with three beds, but no such room exists. We booked for three and ended up with two separate rooms for our family. There’s no reception or staff, just a self check-in iPad that barely works. We never got the pin by email and had to call someone to get it. The passport scanning process is broken, too. Worst of all, the AC was broken and only worked on auto mode. Heat mode didn’t work, so in winter we couldn’t warm the room and had an extremely uncomfortable cold night. Calling remote assistance in the middle of the night and going downstairs for help seemed pointless. It’s clear people choose this for the location and low price, but I’d only do that if I were alone and had no other choice. As many people have posted, this IS NOT A HOTEL.

The location is perfect, and the secure rooms were just right for what I needed, a good place to sleep. One note for anyone it applies to, the elevator has a 200kg weight limit.

THIS IS NOT A HOTEL. It’s a house converted into rental rooms for budget travelers, and you get what you pay for. The room was quite clean overall, but the fridge and wall were moldy. Disgusting and really unhealthy. The house is tucked inside an alley near Shin Okubo station. The station isn’t especially convenient, and we could hear the trains very clearly. They did provide two sets of earplugs. You can leave your luggage before check-in or after check-out, but at a different location, The Global Hotel Tokyo.

Being on the first floor, we had cockroaches show up, and that pretty much ruined the stay. The room also looked bigger in the ads than it really was. Central Shinjuku is fairly close, which is convenient, but the neighborhood itself is dirty. I think your money could go further elsewhere.

There’s nowhere to plug in a phone, and the chair was broken. The room smelled bad and was really dusty.
