We were happy with our stay. The lobby has free coffee from 3 pm, and there were complimentary sweets in the room fridge. Guests can also get free ramen until 11 pm. The onsen is open overnight, with free ice cream and Yakult outside for bathers. A brochure by the coffee corner also had a 100 yen cash voucher for Sea Station Puratto Seaport Market.

☺ We had a fantastic stay. We like Dormy Inn for its onsen, and this one also had free coffee and Yakults in the morning, ice cream from afternoon into the evening, and staff-prepared ramen from 21:30 to 23:00. We used the hotel as a base for visiting Yubari Melon Dome and Noboribetsu. This Dormy Inn stood out for its range of good shopping and dining spots a short drive away: Aeon Mall, Workman Plus, DCM, Nitori, Muji, Supersports Xebio, and Shimamura. ☹ Nothing at all. We’d gladly stay here again in Hokkaido, especially for a shopping trip.

Rooms can be compact, but they’re generally clean and comfortable, with flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, and electric kettles. There are lots of restaurants nearby. We tried a western restaurant and were amazed by it: Daiichi Yoshokuten. This is a busy hotel with many tourists and Japanese guests, and I thought the price was worthwhile given the free ice cream, ramen, onsen, and other extras. I have a tattoo on my back, so I couldn’t use the onsen, since tattoos aren’t allowed. My boyfriend did go, and said the outdoor bath was great. Free laundry is available on the same floor, but there’s no dryer.

There are plenty of restaurants around the hotel, and some are really good. Tomakomai JR Station is a 10-15 minute walk away, next to the Don Quixote store. The Dormy staff were welcoming and accommodating. My room was dated but clean, with basic amenities, and was just the right size for two. The onsen was awesome, sauna included. There were free welcome drinks in the lobby, ramen soup around 9 pm, and ice pops after an onsen bath. Parking is available for a fee.
