Lien Tono

The next day, Mr Kikuchi took us up the nearby mountain, where we got breathtaking views of Tōno City from the top. Later, he showed us how to make pizza, and it turned out delicious. We also loved talking with him and hearing stories about his life and work. My husband and I spent three days at this charming farmhouse. Mr Kikuchi and his two adorable dogs Lien and Leib welcomed us in the rain and cold. He made hot tea and served chestnuts and peanuts, then put a water bottle in our bed to keep us warm overnight. His kindness and cooking made the village feel wonderfully peaceful. We can't recommend this farm stay enough!

Dai-san was quick to respond and really helpful, and his cooking was the best we tried in Tono. The cottage is traditional and roomy, with a comfortable interior and an idyllic setting among rice fields and wooded hills. It's just a short drive from central Tono. Thanks so much for the hospitality!

I stayed on March 18, 2026, and felt welcome and looked after the whole time. The home was cozy, clean, and well maintained, and the hosts were exceptionally hospitable. I highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Japan. Wishing the hosts continued success sharing their kindness and warmth with travelers!

Our brief visit to Lien Tono was lovely. The host was warm and accommodating, and made a delicious dinner that included an option for the vegetarian in our group. The place was quiet, clean, and comfortable.
