The staff don’t speak English, and the price felt too high for what you get. The water was shut off from 8:30 to 9:30pm, so I couldn’t take a shower. Otherwise, it was decent.

I only stopped in to buy a clear file, as I wasn’t staying overnight, but the owner personally showed me the wide selection of Takagi-san goods and carefully explained some very rare limited-edition items. For fans of “Teasing Master Takagi-san,” this place is as fulfilling as a pilgrimage, so I’d definitely recommend stopping by when you visit Shodoshima. I’ll come back here next time I’m on the island.

The warm welcome from the owner and his wife is what made me want to return. I first became interested in Shodoshima and this hotel because of “Teasing Master Takagi-san,” but the two of them are why I came back. The islanders greeted me warmly too, which made the trip really enjoyable. This was my second stay, a year after the first. The hotel is a gathering spot for fans of the manga and anime “Teasing Master Takagi-san,” and the lobby is full of related merchandise that gives it the feel of the series. The building has a historic feel, but it’s clean and well maintained, so I was comfortable. I definitely want to visit again.
