APA Hotel Tottori Ekimae

The room was enjoyable and the hotel itself was nice, but breakfast was horrible. We were a family of five, paying 1700 yen per adult, and nearly everything apart from the rice seemed to be leftovers from the day before. The chicken was tough and chewy; the Ramen noodles were so dried out they were brown and crisp at the edges. The scrambled eggs were swimming in juice, and the pasta and tofu seemed suspicious. Even the coffee machine was out of order. We were the only people in the restaurant at 8:30 am. Maybe everyone else knew what breakfast was like. Don’t waste your money here. They don’t give refunds.

The staff were friendly and really helpful, and our room was clean, with even a couch of our own. We had a lovely city view from the 12th floor, and the room was bigger than a typical Japanese hotel room. We stayed two nights and loved it. There’s private parking for a fee, but it’s first come, first served. I’d highly recommend this place for a visit to Tottori!

The staff were friendly, and the location was great. The AC was already on when I arrived, so the room felt comfortable at first. Then I noticed short hairs in and around the toilet, and on the bed sheet. The bed or pillow also had a strange smell. I don’t expect much from an economy hotel, but I do hope for clean things. The windows wouldn’t open, so I had to keep the AC on, but it got really cold. I ended up staying in bed, where the smell was unpleasant. If you’re staying in mid fall, bring thick pajamas.

The hotel is in a peaceful spot beside a dried up river, about a five-minute walk from Tottori station. Like other APA hotels I’ve stayed at, it’s conveniently close to trains, buses, convenience stores, and restaurants. They also let us leave our luggage there for free both before check-in and after checkout, which was nice. I just wish the hotel yukata were a little thicker.
