Drop Inn TOTTORI - Hostel

The room was larger than a usual capsule, and I loved it. It’s close to Tottori station, and the staff speak English. They also offer free drinks from 18.30 to 21.30.

A great base for day trips around the area. The staff were all friendly, and it was really easy to settle in even though this was my first time staying in a capsule style hotel!

The service was excellent during my three-night stay. A short haired female staff member with glasses spoke excellent English and was very helpful. She’d worked in Osaka and gave me great tips on attractions, plus helped dry my shoes after I got caught in the rain. She said the boss wanted guests to have enough space, so they didn’t build double storey beds in the cabin hotel area. Like another reviewer mentioned, I could stand in my cabin without hitting my head. The location was really convenient. The bus terminal for local and Highway buses to Osaka and Kyoto, Tottori JR station, and Aeon mall were all a few minutes away on foot. It’s in a fairly quiet area, so it wasn’t noisy. They also offer guests a complimentary drink each evening, with local whisky, sake, or cocktails to sample. I stayed here while returning from Matsue, using it as a base to explore Tottori and Kurayoshi. The rooms were clean and extremely affordable. Highly recommend!

The strongest point here is the service. They have lots of local food and tour suggestions, plus maps and a small guide with prices, food choices, and the staff’s English proficiency. The first floor has a comfortable bar and common area that wasn’t too full, with a kitchen you can use in the corner. You get one free drink daily, and there’s free juice and coffee in the morning. I appreciated the breakfast coffee and the local food tips, especially for the price. I had a clean, modern capsule in a six-bed room. The rooms are good and what you’d expect, but nothing special, a classic 4/5. The service makes this hostel very good value.
