Petit Hotel Koizumi

The owner was easily the kindest, coolest person I met. On my first day he drove me to Toyako and gave me two discounted tickets for an onsen. When I checked out, he took me to Toya Station and even gave me a little present. The building used to be apartments, so the remodeled rooms feel more like a comfortable home than a standard one-room hotel. It’s up in the mountains, so having a car is strongly recommended. There’s a bus, but the last one is around 7pm. Walking up the road isn’t too hard, though there are no streetlights and it might feel scary at night. I already loved Toyako because of the Sora no Method anime, but meeting kind people around town and seeing the beautiful scenery made me love it ten times more. I’d love to return in other seasons to see the town’s different sides and the fireworks. Everyone at Toyako Onsen、My heart is full of happiness。Thank you so very much。I love Toyako

The rooms are clean and spacious, easily enough for two or more people. The owner is friendly and helpful, with plenty of useful information about local attractions and the fireworks.

The owner went out of his way to help us. Lake Toya is a few minutes away by car, but he picked us up after the fireworks, then took us to the lake the next day and let us leave our luggage at his other hotel. The room was large and Japanese-style, and the service was great. He was really friendly and did his best with English. Highly recommended.

The place is cute outside and cozy inside, though our room was dusty enough that my dust allergy kept me awake one night. Maybe Hide san could use a better cleaner. It’s a little uphill from town, so make sure you have a car. Hide-san was very warm and took time to explain the town and suggest food and things to do. He even gave us lots of omiyage and treats and saw us off when we left. Thanks, Hide san! All in all, I’d recommend staying here.
