Dormy Inn Toyama Natural Hot Spring

The public onsen was really good. The water had a noticeable scent and color, and its temperature was between hot and warm, just right for me. My room was comfortable and had a good bathtub. The late-night ramen was only okay, not as tasty as ramen from restaurants outside. Still, I was hungry and bored at night, so I ate a few bowls.

The onsen is the main reason I usually choose Dormy Inn, and I found the staff polite during this stay too. But my booking through hotel-rez.com showed a Semi Double Twin Bed room in both the description and photos. At check-in, I was given a room with one Queen Bed instead. When I asked for the booked room type, I was told I’d have to pay extra to change. I understand that availability can be an issue, but I would have appreciated getting the room type the website showed and confirmed without an added charge. I’m sharing this as constructive feedback. I value Dormy Inn and will keep choosing it for the onsen, and I hope the hotel and booking platforms can coordinate better.

The room had poor ventilation, and despite what I paid, I was put in a non-smoking room on a designated smoking floor. That really detracted from my stay. Breakfast also differed in two notable ways from another branch I visited on this trip. The only coffee options were black, including Americano, hot, and drip coffee. Fresh tuna and salmon with ikura were replaced with yellowtail mixed rice. If you’re an English-speaking traveler hoping for advice about places like the Tateyama Alpine Route or Kurobe Gorge, the staff at this branch may not be able to guide you well in English, so plan your itinerary ahead.

The natural hot spring spa was excellent, and the facility was clean and well located. The staff were good too. There are free ice pops in the evening after a soak, half-size soy-sauce ramen at night, and a yogurt-like drink in the morning. They also leave a free sweet and cold water in the fridge when you arrive in your room. A really nice place to relax and feel at home.
