Osaka Airterminal Hotel

We needed to catch a very early flight, so this hotel made sense for our group. The room was quite small, especially for four people, but it had what we needed for the night. The front desk staff were kind and helpful, and check-in and checkout were easy for us as English-speaking travelers. I'd definitely recommend it if you're flying early.

I had a late arrival for a business trip and another flight the next day, so staying inside the airport was extremely convenient. It took less than five minutes to walk from the arrival gate to the lobby. My room was clean, and I didn't have noise problems despite being in the airport. The staff were kind, and I appreciated getting a quick email reply before arriving about my late checkout questions. There are lots of nearby food and drink options. I liked having a Dean and Deluca coffee shop just past the lobby, open from 6:30am, and a Lawson downstairs for late snacks or an early Onigiri breakfast. The room is standard business hotel size for Japan, so opening a large suitcase can be a little difficult, and two would be harder.

We chose Osaka Itami Airterminal Hotel for one night before a 7 AM flight, and being right in the terminal made the early departure much easier. Check-in was quick even though we booked through a third-party site: I showed my passport and confirmation, paid an occupancy tax of around 200 JPY per person, and had the key within minutes. Our room had two queen beds and felt roomy by Japanese standards. It was spotless, with bottled water and toiletries included. The compact bathroom had a bathtub, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel was better than I expected for an airport hotel compared with most 3-star places. The terminal itself has plenty of restaurants, cafes, gift shops, and a Lawson. The rooftop observation deck was a great surprise, with lovely views of planes taking off and landing, especially at night, and good photo opportunities. In the morning we walked downstairs to the airline check-in counter in under five minutes. After security there were more shops and places to eat, including a food court and Starbucks for breakfast. The rate may be a little higher than nearby hotels, but the convenience and experience made it worth it for us. I'd highly recommend it for an early flight or late arrival, and I'd stay again.

Being right at the airport made my first and last days in Japan much less stressful as a first-time international traveler. It's a super convenient, affordable hotel, and the front desk staff were wonderful, skilled, and fluent in English. Itami Airport is handy in its own right: the Osaka Monorail is a short walk over a pedestrian bridge, and there are airport limousine buses, a city bus, and taxis outside the terminals. The Lawson outside is great, too. If you have an early flight, you could book a night, spend some time in Itami, which is a neat city with a great Aeon Mall, and fly out the next day. We did, and it made things much easier. I'll book again if we fly into or out of Itami on our next trip.
