I was grateful they let me rinse off my muddy bike after the rainy "Biwaichi" ride around Lake Biwa, and they said I could bring the bike inside overnight, which eased worries about theft or damage despite the stairs. I ended up staying two nights because the price was reasonable when the National Athletic Meet had made other hotels full or over budget. It's a walk from the station, but convenience stores and restaurants nearby meant that was fine. There's also a soft water bath, though it isn't a large public bath and seems to be for men only.

I was glad to find a room on short notice. It's been ages since I stayed in a business hotel that allows smoking, so that made me really happy and earned a high rating. Just keep in mind there isn't an elevator, which could be a hassle with lots of luggage or a leg injury.

I had to find somewhere quickly after an event came up suddenly. I can't compare it with a standard single, since I had a Japanese-style room for two, and it didn't have a toilet. Still, I could relax in the indoor bath. It's a way from the station, but easy to spot because it faces the national highway.

This is an older business hotel, so come expecting that and you should be fine. Kawase Station on the Biwako Line is the closest, but it's still about a 25-minute walk. I stayed without meals; the price was fair, and La Moo and Lawson, both open 24 hours, were nearby, so I managed fine. There's a men's bath on the first floor too, though I didn't try it.
