HOTEL R9 The Yard Tsu

The room felt cramped, and the toilet was tiny. Since it’s right by the road, there was noise too. But the bugs made this the worst stay I’ve had, especially because I really hate them. There was a small winged bug in the air freshener beside me as I came into the room, then a tiny white bug on the desk, the kind you often see around books or damp places. A cockroach even came out from beside the refrigerator. It was during the New Year holidays, and the room cost 10,000 yen. I want a refund, and I’ll never stay at this hotel again.

I liked having two convenience stores and a supermarket within walking distance. The complimentary curry snack was small, but it tasted quite authentic and was good. I was unsure about trying this place at first, but it turned out to be surprisingly comfortable. The best part was how quiet it was, since there are no rooms directly above, below, or beside one another. Even in a small room, you don’t have to hear other guests using the toilet or bath. The twin room was a little disappointing because there’s no private parking space in front of it. Still, I think it’s much better than traditional hotels, which can feel crowded and noisy.

The TV is on the desk side, right in front of you when you eat or work, and all the wiring is exposed. I think that could be improved. The facility itself is new, though, and I had no other complaints. I stayed the night before a golf trip. It’s on a busy road, and the traffic noise woke me in the morning. They do provide earplugs, which I appreciated.

The room was clean and pleasant, but traffic from the national highway kept me awake at night and in the morning. I ended up short on sleep, and it affected my work. I’d suggest asking for a room away from the highway, if that’s even possible. I probably won’t stay again.
