Hotel Tsu Center Palace

The open-air bath was lovely. I went at sunset and had it to myself. I’d stay here again if I got a good price, but probably not in midsummer, when you really need the AC. Service was a little lacking when I arrived. The desk didn’t give me the code paper for the bath and sauna, so I had to go back down after reaching the spa area. The front desk amenities also didn’t feel great for a luxury hotel. My room had no refrigerator, so I couldn’t buy anything to keep cold, and the lighting controls were confusing. At night, the room felt noticeably warm even with the AC set high. I slept okay, but any hotter and it would’ve been a problem. The bed was hard too, and my back hurt after the second day. I skipped breakfast because it was so expensive and lots of online reviews said it was bad. It’s easy to get food from the convenience store across the street, and the microwaves on each floor make reheating it simple.

The food was delicious and freshly served, and the facilities were satisfactory. I stayed in Tsu for a week. The room was very small for two people, but the location worked well, right by the main bus stop with lots of convenience stores nearby.

Breakfast cost ¥1800 and was extremely poor, nowhere near worth the price. I also wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone who expects even basic comfort. The room was unbearably hot, with no way for guests to control the centralized air conditioning. The windows were locked, and hotel rules didn’t allow opening them. Around 4 a.m., the AC started blowing even hotter air. It got so bad I opened the corridor door just to breathe. I called reception to ask them to adjust the temperature, but they said it wasn’t possible. They offered no solution or help. Having no control over the room conditions made the stay very uncomfortable and unacceptable.

Still, the hotel is generally seen as a comfortable, affordable option, and it’s convenient for both business and leisure stays.
