Takada Kaikan is tucked away in a fascinating spot connected to the grounds of TakadaHonzan Temple. If you want to stay somewhere with the feel of a historic temple lodging while still having modern comforts like an on-site restaurant and a large communal bath, I’d recommend it. They use environmentally friendly FFC Water throughout. They also make their own tofu and award-winning soy sauce, which you can buy to take home.

I ate at the restaurant inside the building during the Shichi-ya festival. There was a line, as you’d expect on the festival day. I ordered the Ise potato grated meal, and its distinctive sticky texture made it delicious.

This hot spring facility in Mie Prefecture is a popular place, partly because it regularly holds the Plarail Marche.

I went for lunch and had the Ise grated yam soup set meal. It was delicious, and barley rice refills were free. Thanks for the meal. I’d eat here again if I get the chance.
