Dinner and breakfast were both generous, and the Japanese food was tasty. The charge is fairly reasonable, too. The rooms have an old-style Japanese feel; they were clean and comfortable enough, though there are no room keys, so keep valuables with you or leave them at the desk. This ryokan serves Kappo and has a shared bath heated with firewood.

The spa was fantastic, and the dishes they serve were amazing. Wi-Fi is available by reception.
The staff who served us were so kind and made the dining room feel welcoming. They chatted about the area, and even though we stayed several nights, breakfast and dinner changed each time. The sashimi, meat, and hot dishes were all really good. Meals are served downstairs at a counter with raised seating and sunken kotatsu-style tables. The inn has been renovated throughout after earthquake damage, and it was very clean. The carpeted halls are easy to walk on and probably help keep the cold out, though the floors still get chilly in winter. There are no slippers, so bring some or wear thick socks. The shared washbasins fit two or three people, and there is one Western-style toilet each for men and women; everything was new and spotless. The wood-fired bath gets cleaned once between 6:30 and 8:30 in the morning, and locals apparently keep it busy until 21:00. After that it may be quieter. We had it to ourselves. It was an herbal bath that day and warmed us right through. The next morning, my skin felt very smooth. One of the attendants, who has worked there for 30 years and says she soaks every night before going home, had lovely rosy, glossy skin. From Kanazawa Station, the IR Ishikawa Line platforms were easy to find. Trains aren't frequent, so check the schedule ahead of time, but the ride takes 20 minutes. It's a lovely place for anyone wanting to get away from the city and unwind.
We came to see Kanazawa and some of the area around it, and had a really nice stay. The staff were attentive and friendly. Breakfast was a highlight, especially the cheerful woman who prepared it and got the day off to a warm start. The food was delicious, and the coffee was good too. I’d recommend this hotel.
The building is old, but parts have been updated and the place was clean and looked after. Everyone was gentle and calm, which made it easy to enjoy the stay. The bath was comfortable, and the food had delicate, carefully prepared flavors that suited a restful day. The rice was fluffy and glossy, and I can understand why they take such care with it.
