Chimikepp Hotel

Getting here means navigating a narrow mountain road with some tight turns, so drive carefully. There’s no cell service in the mountains. That remote setting is part of the appeal, though. In winter, you may find tents on the frozen lake for ice fishing, and in summer, rare birds can be spotted in the forest around it.

A cozy spot surrounded by lovely nature.

The atmosphere is wonderfully peaceful, and the French food feels refined. I visited in bad weather, but even rain or snow gives the place its own special feel. On a clear day, the lake reflects the blue sky, and at night you can see the stars.

Dinner was the highlight for me, with generous use of local vegetables, seafood, and meat, and it went so well with wine. The location is quiet and close to Lake Chimikeppu, with a lovely view. In early summer, it’s nice to relax in the garden, sway in a hammock, or read. If you like birds, you’ll enjoy hearing all their calls.
