Asama Kogen Hotel

I booked Tsumagoi by mistake when I meant to book Tsumago, so I couldn’t stay. The owner was incredibly kind and refunded me in full the day before. The hotel clearly takes service seriously, and I’d be happy to stay there another time. Thank you for being so kind!

My cat and I stayed at Asama Kogen Hotel in July. Pon-chan, the hotel’s adorable mascot, greeted us at the entrance. He was so friendly that I kept stopping to pet him. The room was spotless and comfortable, with a bay window where I could sit and take in the scenery. My cat seemed just as content there, lounging by the window and watching outside. The owner was warm and easy to talk with, which made the whole stay feel relaxed. It’s a lovely, restful place for cat lovers, and I’d definitely like to come back.

We stayed for one night with our family and dog, after finding a room here because we needed a place that accepts dogs. The manager gave us a warm welcome, along with some adorable cats. The room was small but cozy and very clean. Ours had air conditioning, though some rooms don’t. Even without it, the summer nights were cool enough, and using it while sleeping made me wake up because I felt too cold. I’d bring my own amenities next time, though their absence wasn’t a big deal. It was peaceful around the hotel, and the private space helped us unwind. Kumano Kotai Shrine and other sightseeing spots are nearby, which was a nice bonus. Maybe we’ll return next year.

The owner has such a lovely smile, and apart from the meal situation, I had a comfortable stay. It’s basically a bed-and-breakfast, with no restaurants or convenience stores within walking distance, so eating takes a bit of planning. I have several cats, but I didn’t notice any smell or other issue as long as they stay in rooms where pets aren’t allowed.
