Such a lovely place to unwind, eat well, and experience an authentic Japanese onsen. I loved it and will be back soon!

The atmosphere here is wonderful, and the room, hot springs, food, and staff service were all impeccable. Still, I've repeatedly felt an unpleasant coldness toward me as a solo traveler. It happens every time, especially at check-in and check-out. I try to brush it off and not show it, but it leaves a bad feeling after the trip and wipes out the good memories. If it had happened once, I might have thought I was imagining it, but it has happened multiple times, in fact, every time. I can understand the business reasoning: one guest may bring in less revenue than a group, which is why the per-person price is often higher. But I stay at inns about once a month, and most are welcoming to people traveling alone. A few may cover the difference through technicalities. This is the only other place where I've had this kind of uncomfortable experience. This is just my personal view, but after thinking it over, I wanted to share the criticism. As a guest, I'd like them to change their attitude toward solo visitors or stop accepting single guests.

The Joshu beef was especially tender and fantastic, though everything we ate was delicious. We had a semi-private dining space and could take our time over the meal. The hospitality was lovely, and almost every room has its own bath. We also got to book a separate private bath once, with a sauna and a surprisingly spacious bathing area all to ourselves. The spring water had a slight yellow tint and a faint metallic smell, and left us feeling very warm.

It feels a bit like visiting relatives in a traditional Japanese home. The atmosphere is nostalgic and comforting, and the place is full of detailed furnishings and decorations that are lovely to look at. It doesn't lean on luxury or style, which suited the relaxed, unpretentious stay I wanted. The hot spring water was excellent, and I felt warmed right through after bathing. The meal was carefully made, with thoughtful handling of the ingredients and well-combined flavors. Nothing was flashy, but the portions were just right and I enjoyed every bite. Service was attentive without being stiff. When I dropped my chopsticks, the waiter noticed the small sound immediately and responded so naturally. That easy attention showed real care and experience.

I've stayed here three times now, and each time I've had a different room. I was able to relax again this visit, and the bath in my room was just the right temperature. The food was good, especially the sweet potato rice, and everyone was kind and polite. There are stairs and steps, so it could be difficult for older people. I'd like to come back next year.
