I spent three nights here, using Tsuruga as a base to explore the Sea of Japan side, and it became one of my favorite hotels in Japan. My king bed deluxe room was one of the more premium options, and it came with in-room amenities, a fancy toilet with an automatic lid, and an LG laundry machine that turned out to be useful. It uses water, so it doesn't replace a real washing machine, but the drying setting, including delicate, was great for jackets and pants I didn't want to put in a normal dryer. The almond body wash might be the best smelling soap I've ever used. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Check-in and checkout are done at machines, but they were happy to walk me through it. The location is very convenient, right by Tsuruga Station, with a little plaza of shops and restaurants in between. A couple things could be better. The curtains let in too much light, even on a cloudy day. And while it didn't affect me, I wish the TV's hotel menu showed whether the laundry machines were in use. Other Japanese chain hotels often have that feature, so it would make sense for Granbinario too. Tsuruga seems more like a stopover town on the way elsewhere, though I liked the city as well. If you're staying here for a night or longer, I'd strongly recommend this hotel.

I only realized I'd left my glasses in the room after I reached another city. I contacted the hotel, and they sent them to me right away by express delivery. I'm very grateful, and this will be my only choice for a stay in Tsuruga.

This is a modern, convenient hotel just a few minutes' walk from the railway station. The rooms are larger than those in much of Japan, and the Wi-Fi is very strong. Breakfast offers a Japanese or Western option. The food isn't buffet style, though drinks are.

A quiet, pleasant place near the station. The hotel's own parking has only a few spaces. There's a larger lot nearby that costs 800 yen a day, and the hotel can give you a voucher for 200 yen off. The room had the basics I needed, including an iron, hairdryer, and toiletries. There are also washers and dryers in the shared area.

I was a bit worried about staying so close to the station, but the Shinkansen is really quiet. I didn't hear a train or even traffic, and slept well. The staff were lovely, the location's great, and there's lots to explore.
