Daemado Hotel Hitakatsu

Clean, modern hotel in an ideal location, with free parking. The breakfast isn’t all that great, but at least it’s free.

I had no choice but to stay here because my usual hotel was full, and it was the worst hotel I’ve ever used. The location near the port is a plus, but the hygiene in the room and the service were terrible. It seems to mainly cater to Korean tourists, and the hotel felt truly insincere. I booked a Japanese-style room, but the tatami was dirty in spots and the soundproofing was poor. I could hear people talking and thumping in the next room. Wi-Fi barely connected the next morning after failing to work all night. It felt like they were just telling me to sleep in.

This is a very standard place to stay. I chose a room with beds, and the heating, hot water, and ventilation were all great. There’s a bathtub as well as a shower. Korean-speaking reception staff made check-in and check-out easy, and luggage storage was simple. Bicycles are available to rent for 2,000 yen. There’s a parking lot out front, and another behind the hill if you can’t find a space there. They have a microwave and hair dryer, but bottled water is sold in vending machines, so there doesn’t seem to be a water purifier. There’s no counter service between 10 AM and 6 AM, and the door won’t open without a card key, so remember to carry yours.

The room felt comfortable thanks to its spaciousness, the view, and the location. The Wi-Fi wasn’t very useful, and the dryer was so small that even short hair took a long time to dry. Still, I think the good points outweigh those drawbacks, so it’s worth considering.
