The hotel’s Restaurant Kei opened in November 2022 with a focus on hospitality and Shinshu French cuisine paired with wines from Shinshu Wine Valley. It serves dishes made with local fish, meat, and seasonal vegetables picked that morning, and it has a Shinshu Brand Award distinction. Earlier, the hotel introduced its “10th floor premium floor Kei-” in April 2020, aiming to give guests a higher-quality stay. Those rooms feature a hidden terrace surrounded by nature. There’s also a drinking area in this hot spring resort designated by the Environment Agency, and a restaurant called Mari-age offering French food and Shinshu wine. It received the 10th Award.

Kakeyuonsen is a beautiful part of Japan, and we’d stay at Saito Hotel again when we return from Australia. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and well designed. We also loved the onsen and the new restaurant, which has a wide selection of quality wines. Well worth visiting.

Set by a river in the woods, this onsen has a lovely setting. The staff are very friendly, and the buffet dinner has good variety and quality. It’s good value for an onsen.

My husband and I picked this hotel for several nights so we could enjoy both hot springs and exercise. There’s a 25-meter pool and a friendly trainer on duty, which helps us feel safe. The gym equipment is a bit old and not well maintained, though. I wish they’d put a little more money into it and added a second treadmill. The staff at each facility are well trained, and we have no complaints about them. The buffet meals offer lots of tasty choices. There’s also a popular, well-known French restaurant you can choose if there’s space. We hoped to try it, but there were no openings that day. We’ve visited hot spring inns around the country, and would like to make this one a regular stop.
