Mr Yokoo offered to drive us to Ukiha Inari shrine the next morning after the weather disrupted our travel plans. We also had some delicious local sake and a nice chat. Such kind hospitality, thank you : ) The tatami smelled fresh, and everything was clean and neat. The common area was spacious and carefully furnished, with lovely cups and glasses. We could hear traffic from our room facing the road, so it might bother light sleepers.
We spent five nights here at the start of our Japan trip, and it was a perfect beginning. The welcome was so warm, and we got excellent advice. The guesthouse is beautiful, clean, and well maintained. Our room looked onto the courtyard, so street noise wasn’t an issue for us. The road right beside the guesthouse wasn’t very busy in the evening, though it could disturb other guests. Earplugs should help. We’d highly recommend staying here and hope to return.
The atmosphere around the house was very tranquil, though we arrived late and had an early flight the next day, so we didn’t get to explore the streets properly. It’s a charming old-style guesthouse, and you can tell the owner puts care into maintaining the building. Basic amenities are provided, along with a washer and dryer for a one-time fee of 300 yen. The rooms are on the second floor, and the station is a bit far away, so getting there can be difficult with luggage or by public transport.
I called to ask about staying, but the person I spoke with was overbearing and didn’t seem to understand me. I got the feeling it would be a bad experience, so I chose not to stay. The caller was an elderly woman, but her manner wasn’t what I’d expect from a customer service business. I wish she’d listened to what I was trying to say first.
Our group were the only guests that day, which made the stay especially comfortable. The place seemed clean and well cared for, and the spacious tatami room was comfortable. At a nearby local restaurant, I was told lots of Koreans go there. Trucks and other vehicles passed by early in the morning, so I’d bring earplugs. I’d definitely stay here again on my next trip to Ukiha.
