Ryokan Yoshidaya

The room where we ate dinner and breakfast was almost unbearably hot in summer, with no air conditioning or fan. That was my one complaint. Otherwise, everything was great: the staff were lively and friendly, the in-room onsen had real spring water, and the public baths were nicely designed.

Our Japanese Western Style Room was clean and felt new, and both meals included with our stay were delicious. The hotel has a modern, stylish look and a relaxed atmosphere. Staff were attentive and helpful too. We stayed here while visiting Ureshino and would recommend it.

The staff were friendly, and I liked the stylish room and traditional Japanese feel. There wasn't enough time to enjoy the reserved private bath, though, since the booking was only for 40 minutes. Towels weren't provided in either the public or private bath, and breakfast also felt rushed.

We stayed in a small villa room across the river, just a two-minute walk away. It was comfortable, with a good mattress, and our private onsen bath had been filled before we arrived. The included private onsen booking was spectacular, though the water is quite hot, so bring some water and take a few cool showers between dips. Meals were delicious and served at a good pace, filling without leaving us stuffed. The staff were lovely and used handheld devices to communicate with us in several languages since we don't speak Japanese. There was good parking onsite. It's pricey, but worth it for the baths and food. If it fits your budget, I'd stay more than one night so you have time to relax and enjoy everything.
