Hotel Senjo

My solo room plan gave me a room on the highest floor with an ocean view and tatami. The hotel is quite far from the station, though you can get there by city bus. It's near the cliffs attraction, and the ocean hot spring is within walking distance. Checkout at noon left plenty of time for a soak in the hot spring, hot tub, or pool, or for a morning walk. The buffet changes with the season and was better than average. During my stay, dinner and breakfast included grilled barbecue.

My main complaint was the loud pop music outside by the pool after 11 pm. I could still hear it with the windows shut and had to run the air filter on high to cover the sound. It seemed odd to play music that late when many guests were older people and families who go to bed early, and nobody was even outside enjoying it. The staff were great, the location was nice, and I liked the buffet. The room looked old, with peeling wallpaper, lots of stains, and a cigarette smell, but it didn't feel dirty. The bathroom and tatami seemed new, and the sheets, bed, and towels were clean and comfortable. There were also two good play areas for kids.

We went in December using the Wakayama refresh campaign and had a nice staycation. There was plenty to do without leaving the hotel: a kids' play area, foot bath, karaoke, onsen, outdoor pool, jacuzzi, and a book corner. The room was a bit old but okay. There wasn't much choice at dinner or breakfast.

We spent most of our time enjoying the facilities, so the dated room didn't bother us much, though ours still smelled of smoke. There was lots of space for six people, and we only used it to sleep. The onsen was great, as were the outdoor heated pool and hot tubs. The buffet was large and tasty, and there were fun play areas for little kids, plus table tennis and other amusements for older kids. The cliffs are within walking distance.
