The breakfast was outstanding. For a small extra fee, you get a traditional Japanese breakfast, the best I've had at a Japanese hotel, and the morning coffee was excellent too. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance, and the hotel is an easy walk from Wakayama Station. It also has free parking. My wife and I stayed five nights. This is exactly the kind of family-run, distinctive, clean, good-value hotel I look for. The owner was very friendly and accommodating, and speaks some English. We had a private bath in our room, and there's also a traditional Japanese bath area. I'll stay here again whenever I'm in the Wakayama area.

The shared-looking refrigerator is out in the hallway, which is something to be aware of, though it wasn't especially inconvenient. The place feels more like a traditional Japanese inn than a hotel, with a historic feel to the building. The rooms are very clean, perhaps because they were renovated when the building became non-smoking. It's about a 10-minute walk from Wakayama Station, with a convenience store nearby. The restaurants are decent, though the exterior has a rather wild look.

The facilities aren't new, but they're well kept, and the place gave me the calm feeling of visiting my family home in the countryside. I was here for a business trip, and the delicious breakfast, the owner's cheerful greeting and his kind personality made me feel comfortable. It put me in a much better mood during a trip that can often be stressful.

The owner and his wife seemed very nice, and breakfast was decent, just standard. The inn is conveniently close to the station, about a 5-6 minute walk. The Wi-Fi was frustrating. Three of the five channels gave errors like “AirStation setting check ERR.” I got one connected, but the signal was weak, and I'm not very technical. I bought ice cream to have after my bath, then found there was no refrigerator. I had to eat it quickly, lol.
