The breakfast was filling and felt like great value for what I paid. The hotel’s public bath was comfortable, and they even had free ice pops afterward. I’d visited Wakkanai before, but this was my first time staying downtown. Nearby restaurants were all full that evening, so I ended up with a convenience store sandwich. The complimentary late-night ramen helped.

That warm bath on the 10th floor was a real bonus after being out in the cold. Guests can use the spa for free, and it was a relaxing place to soak. The location is superb, too. Staff were attentive and helpful, though I wasn’t sure how fluent they really were in Japanese.

The rooftop onsen was great, and the room was really nice and spacious. I skipped the breakfast buffet since it seemed a bit expensive for what it was. The free noodles late at night were a nice touch. It’s in a great spot in town, and I had a very pleasant stay.

The hotel is really close to the train and bus stations. My room was huge, with a very comfortable bed and a great shower. They also serve complimentary soba at night and have free ice cream in the afternoon and evening. It’s a little pricey, but still a great place to stay.

We really enjoyed the onsen, and it was handy being able to wear the hotel clothes and slippers on the way there and back. The free late-night ramen was tasty, and the chef got it out efficiently. Rooms were a good size and very clean. The garage uses a stacker, so leave time to load and unload your car. There are three free washing machines and three dryers in each changing room. The dryers cost JPY 100 for 20 minutes and work very well. Dormy Inn is a really nice chain. We’d also stayed at their la vista in ashahidake, which was amazing around Christmas. Overall, a great stay.
