We enjoyed our stay at Wakkanai Grand. The natural onsen was a nice feature, and the rooms were large and very comfortable. The reception staff were extremely polite and helpful, even arranging a taxi for us whenever we asked. It's a very nice hotel in a convenient part of Minami Wakkanai.

The rooms are clean and basic, but overpriced, and I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. The staff were so rude that it was shocking. We arrived at 5 a.m. knowing we'd check out five hours later, and paid the full price of €450 for two rooms. We were fine with the cost, but the men at the front desk treated us like we were a burden. One picked his nose while looking down at us. The breakfast staff were rude on several occasions too. At 9 a.m., as we were finishing our last sip of coffee and they were starting to clean up, they told us to move along immediately, without any warning. I could list five other inflexible things, but if you've read this far, you know what to expect. The staff clearly don't realize that their reputation lives on in customer reviews.

After a six-hour drive from the airport, we were pretty tired on our first day in Hokkaido, so I didn't take many photos. The room was quite comfortable. The onsen was medium-sized, and breakfast didn't offer many choices, though it wasn't bad.

The room was quite big and the price was good. The staff were nice and spoke good English.
