The best part was the spacious main living area and its balcony with lovely mountain views. The rest felt less appealing. Although recently renovated, the building is old, and the carpets in the rooms and hallway seem unchanged. Only the living area is carpet-free. They looked and felt dusty and dirty. Some room layouts were poor too: one room had no windows or air conditioning and got hot and stuffy overnight. We were given an onsen key at check-in and told we could go in ourselves, but the door was locked when we got there. We had to return to reception for someone to open it. Another guest had the same problem and was frustrated. It would have been fine if staff had simply warned us it might be locked and told us to ask at reception first. You really need a car to get around, though the inn is fairly close to Hakone’s main sights if you’re driving. Parking on site is limited and first come, first served. The lot was pretty full, so we didn’t dare go out for dinner in case we couldn’t find a space when we returned.

A gorgeous place, with a big suite, peaceful rooms, and great parking. Really impressive, and highly recommended.

The service was awful. They couldn’t even bring us an extra pillow.

A lovely place to spend time with my family. We could relax, recharge, and rest here. I highly recommend it.
