A pleasant stay, pretty much what I'd expect from Toyoko-inn Standard. I was disappointed that the Special Pin badge for Wakayama wasn't available at the time.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's a few minutes' walk from the station, but there's not much on this side, and the other side is much better for location. The curtain had dirt and blood stains. I also found a dirty cleaning cloth beside the TV and handed it to the front desk. They didn't apologize or even ask for my room number. The service and room cleanliness don't meet Toyoko Inn standards.

Everything felt close by, and the rooms were great. Breakfast was a nice extra, freshly prepared. I had a good stay.

For an affordable price, I got a luxurious-feeling hotel with a nice bedroom and bathroom. It's near JR Wakayama station, with restaurants and convenience stores nearby for meals and snacks. The tiled floors felt sticky, though, and I couldn't tell why. There wasn't anything interesting around for tourism, which was a shame. The hotel smelled like wet dog, and that made my travel sickness worse, though oddly enclosed places around town seemed to have the same smell. I also had to use Google Translate to communicate because the receptionists couldn't speak English, despite English signs everywhere. I wish we could've talked directly.
