The check-in was the most frustrating part. I had to use a complicated online portal, upload my passport, provide extensive personal information, and pay a sizable deposit. That was unusual compared with other hotels I’ve stayed in in Japan and really detracted from the experience. Ginza’s main attractions are close, which was handy, and for the price the stay wasn’t terrible. The rooms are extremely small, perhaps expected at this price, but the bathroom was a bigger issue: it smelled noticeably of pee, the shower drained badly and left me standing in ankle-deep water, and the toilet flushed for over a minute each time. There were no room keys either, just a long access code, which was inconvenient. It was manageable for a very short stay, but I wouldn’t recommend more than one night.

The online pre-check-in was a hassle. Finishing the Airbnb reservation wasn’t enough, I also had to complete other forms through outside links. They asked for a deposit that hadn’t been disclosed before booking and collected my credit card details in their so-called portal. After checkout, I had a midnight flight and left my luggage there. I only got a message after 9:30 p.m. saying I couldn’t collect it, even though they should have reminded me before closing at 9. I contacted them, but the staff were already off and didn’t help resolve it. My bags had to stay another night, and I missed my flight. When I picked them up the next day, the staff said they’d done nothing wrong and charged me extra for storage. I can’t believe I missed my flight for such a stupid reason. It’s really problematic to stop all service after 9 p.m. I understand that’s when staff finish work, but check-in and luggage storage should still be available. This was troublesome.

The air conditioner was the main problem. It was preset, and we couldn’t switch it to cold mode. Even though we visited in November, the room felt very hot and we sweated while trying to sleep. The room was so tiny that once we opened our luggage, we couldn’t open the door. Never going back.

For the price compared with other hotels nearby, it’s a good deal. The room was clean, and the front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. It’s well placed for shopping and the subway, and not too far from the JR train station. It’s no Hilton, but you get more than you pay for.

The bed was awesome! The room is pretty tiny, though, and after flushing the toilet seat area suddenly smelled like a drain or poop. Please check and fix the toilet seat. Everything else was great, thanks!
