It’s an easy walk to the skiing, and the meals they served were delicious. The people running the place were incredibly kind and helped us in all sorts of ways: they checked that our dietary needs could be met, called restaurants to see if they were open, drove us to an ATM when the snow stopped our car, and helped us out after a skiing injury.

A little dated, but still really nice. The food’s very good.

We managed to book just before Golden Week, during a likely quiet period with no snow. The innkeepers said they get more bookings in July because of school camps. They’re old enough to have grandchildren and were very welcoming. Dinner was a hot pot with a generous amount of either Tajima beef or duck, and it was delicious. I’d like to come back if I get the chance.

Here during ski season. The distinctive owner and kind hostess make really good hot pot. Loved it.

I still remember staying here fondly on my elementary school trip.
