The room was comfortable and clean, and the hotel’s interior was lovely and spotless, with a high-class feel. We also really appreciated the fantastic service, especially the ride in a little cart from the parking area. It’s very close to the shrine, so it’s a handy place to stay when visiting. Just keep in mind that no local restaurants were open in the evening during our stay.

There’s plenty to do at the ryokan, and it’s clean and well cared for despite the older facilities. It’s also an easy walk from Yahiko station and makes a good base for climbing Mt Yahiko. A station shuttle would be a nice addition, especially in summer when the walk can feel really hot.

The hilltop has a nice view, and you can get there on foot or by cable car. Yahiko jinja and yahikoyama are right nearby, about a 10-minute walk from the rail station.

The top-floor onsen baths are incredible, and the atmosphere is really relaxing. The bedding was comfortable too. It’s a lovely guest house/hotel with a retro feel, and the service was superb and personal.
