I liked having lunch in a calm space with soothing background music, away from the crowds. The seafood bowl of the day was delicious throughout, and the miso soup was mild. The tea afterward was good too. I also tried the limited-time fig parfait, with lots of layers of fig and a complex flavor. The apple parfait was a little sweeter.

I had some time before my 3 PM train, after using the hot springs on a trip around 1 PM and seeing everything else. I noticed they served coffee, so I stopped in. It was delicious, without too much acidity. When I asked if I could stay a while, they smiled and said, “Of course!” It made for a fun trip.

I came for the fig parfait, and it was fantastic, with a whole fig and a generous portion. I’d like to come back next year.

This is the lobby lounge cafe at Sakuraya. You can get lunch there, and they serve alcoholic drinks too.

The daily lunch specials are a great deal, and the coffee is delicious. I’d like to see more herbal teas on offer.
