The rooms are simple, but they were clean and comfortable, which mattered most to me. What really stood out was how kind and thoughtful the owners were. Dinner and breakfast are worth having: the ingredients were local, the food was handmade, and it was all delicious. On our second night we had salad, locally caught char, wagyu steak, and homemade ice cream. Such a good meal.

The snow was fantastic, which was a lovely bonus. Tomo was a funny, wonderful host and drove us up to the ski field each morning, then picked us up at 4 if we chose not to take the bus back earlier. His wife was attentive and helpful too. The atmosphere was nice, the staff friendly, and both dinner and breakfast were excellent. We loved our stay.

The aloe resort is only a three-minute drive away, and Tom takes guests there each morning and brings them back. We drove ourselves, but the location worked really well. From the moment we arrived, Tom and his wife made us feel at home. They even upgraded our room for more comfort, and the home-cooked meals every day were amazing. Tom's humor made the stay unforgettable. Thanks, Tom, for making the trip so memorable.

After skiing, a soak in the ofuro was wonderful, and the rooms were a good size. The food was amazing, so I really recommend booking meals since there aren't shops or restaurants nearby. We spent two lovely nights here and would happily recommend it. The owner and his family and crew did a lot to make us comfortable, including picking us up at the station and dropping us at the gondola each day. They could handle our other requests too.
